My name is Guy Newell and here's my journey

How I started: I studied Classical Civilisation in University in London, I then moved to Indonesia, equipped with a translation book and a camera to teach English as a second manage and learn about a new culture. Happily taking photos and documenting my journey, but it wasn't until I picked up a copy of Natgeo Guild to Travel Photography that I realised I had been doing somethings right and somethings wrong and certainly not taking advantage of a the powerfull little camera in my pocket. So, I set out to improve myself and bought my first DSLR and started to learn to take the photos I've always dreamed of. It was the best investment I've ever made.
My journey has been rocky at times and very very wayward but towards the things I believe in, what I have seen and learnt I wish to express and show you through my pictures tell a story which is expressive and my reality and how I view the world. I hoe you  enjoy looking through my lens with me and hope they inspire emotion I am also feeling.

My Mission
What I want to give the world through my work.
My work is a reflection of what I find to be interesting, emotional, factual, story telling and the way I see the world. I aim to cover many different genres and styles of photography we sometimes watch drama, documentaries, musicals or action so I aim to grow my body of work like a good television set.

What it's like to be behind the lens
I love to document the world around me. Frustrations knowing I won't always be there to document it, will always be there but showing the world what I can, I think, makes the world a more interesting place. My relation to my photos is a direct relation to the world and fining emotion and connection to the subject is very important to me. I'm always thinking how to portray the scene in front of me in the most honest way. Freezing a frame at the right moment  tells a hidden story and meaning and it's for the viewer to read into it what they might and engage with a scene in a different way. I find this inward reflection and emotional response my viewers have is truly rewarding.

Creating art is always fascinating and my artwork specific are always very exciting to create. The emotions they give and interest and wanting to look closer and be part of the scene or mood for me is highly inspirational.
Being asked to participate in an event is always nerve-racking but planning, preparation, and enjoying it are my keys to success. The sense of achievement and satisfaction I receive and the memories a series of images can give are truly the best feelings. Seeing the smaller things and things we miss and forget about and the emotion in scenes is important to document to give more detail and sub context to a scene.
Sometimes through the emotions in a photograph we see a hidden side to ourselves that we don't often have photographed, and it's always very special to be able to share these with my clients.
I hope you've enjoyed finding out a few of my inner workings. Send a message if you'd like to know more and have a chat to see if you'd like to work with me or have me at an event or to document something you have planned or need a photographer to be.

Yours sincerely,

Guy
